2024 Grant Recipients & Filmmaker Bios
David C’de Baca
Project Title: Alternate Transport Abq (How city planning affects communities within Albuquerque and New Mexico)

David is a filmmaker and animator. He is graduate of the CNM Ingenuity program with a focus on filmmaking. His documentary interests include an analysis of what led our communities to be so car dependent, its socioeconomic effects on vulnerable people like children and those who live in underserved communities; and what governments can do to improve these conditions based on best practice elsewhere. The NMDIG grant funded project helped David established him as a documentarian among local urban advocacy organizations. It also introduced him to the local film community. He has spent much of the past year exploring and documenting urban transit solutions in cities across the Southwest. His recent projects include a video for the Jemez Pueblo and America Walks to highlight pedestrian friendly improvements and traffic calming solutions. He is currently working with Strong Towns Abq to produce a series of promotional videos illustrating how new development projects can better accommodate alternative forms of transit.
Dylan Haworth
Project Title: End of History. (Residents of Northern New Mexico face systemic and ecological issues as they attempt to recover from a historic wildfire)
Dylan Haworth is an Albuquerque based documentary filmmaker and cinematographer. Graduating from the University of New Mexico’s Film and Digital Media program, he garnered experience in many different environments, including sports, journalism, activism, and the arts. Dylan has worked with groups like New Mexico United, Tamarind, UNM, and New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence to produce socially conscious, community focused short documentaries. Following his NMDIG funded project, Dylan has continued to work in documentary. Moving abroad as a member of the 2027 cohort of the Erasmus Mundus master’s degree program DocNomads. He will be working in Portugal, Lithuania, and Belgium and producing documentaries in each of the respective countries. He has also engaged in film criticism and programming in New Mexico, including founding the political film group Albuquerque Cinema Club to screen movies in conjunction with local political education projects.
Gianna Peredina
Project Title: Strings of Connection (the story of creating community in an Albuquerque guitar store)

Gianna Peredina graduated from of UNM with a degree in film production. Gianna is currently pursuing a master’s degree in the School of Film, Television, and Media Arts at Emerson College. She has also created a website for like-minded documentary filmmaker with the stated mission of “to create powerful documentary films that uplift underrepresented voices, fostering authentic connections and enhancing the community’s understanding of diverse experiences. We envision a world where every voice is heard and valued, and where compelling storytelling inspires change and unity across communities.
Dominic Fraire
Project Title: Terria XO: A Journey of Self Discovery (the story of a Native American transgender person’s search for identity and community)

Dominic is a filmmaker and conceptual artist from Las Cruces and a graduate of the University of New Mexico’s Film and Digital Arts program. His film projects strive to create a relationship of exploration with the audience, one where they can walk hand in hand into the depths of human understanding and experience and what it means to live life emotionally. His film Terria XO: A Journey of Self-Discovery" is a documentary that invites audiences on a profound exploration of Terria's transformative odyssey within the realm of a trans-feminine identity.
